Atlanta Botanical Garden Engagement | Atlanta, GA Wedding Photographer | Mia + Trevor

Y’all. Let me tell you about these two!

Mia and Trevor have a truly unique proposal story that led them to an epic engagement location at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, and I’m sharing all the sweetest details with y’all below!

Mia and Trevor met

in undergrad at North Carolina State University, just down the road from my alma mater, Meredith College!

I was so excited to finally work with a couple who lived in a place so special to my heart.

Mia and Trevor were on the same floor in the same dorm for two years, but Mia majorly friend zoned him until about three years ago - and the rest is history!

Trevor planned to propose in March at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.

On the day of their proposal, his whole plan was set in place at the gardens, but something unexpected happened...

When Mia and Trevor arrived at the gardens, the ticket office employee ruined the surprise by asking if they were there for the Jenkins wedding proposal right in front of Mia and completely spoiled it!

Yupp. Completely spoiled it.

But you know what?

Now, these two lovebirds have a truly unique proposal story to tell their friends and family for the rest of their lives.

And...they got to use the gardens for a free engagement photoshoot later as long as they provided the photographer. Enter me!

The gardens in April were stunning and nothing was going to hold us back from living out the very best of that moment - not even the impending rainstorm that decided to tag along.

I had been to the gardens with my husband before taking photos, so I knew of a few great spots. We adventured into some gorgeous walking paths, green houses and hidden corners.

We even ran into Piedmont Park for a skyline photo before the sky opened up on us. It was magic!

This has been one of my favorite engagement shoots of 2019, and I cannot wait for their wedding next October!!

“Rose is phenomenal! She had the ability to create and capture moments in their purest and most authentic form. Originally, we had booked Rose solely to capture our engagement photos. But because of  her creativity, infectious positivity, and superb quality of product, we absolutely had to book her for our wedding day as well!

We most appreciated her ability to capture us being nothing but  ourselves during our time with her. Rose’s personality creates a comfortable environment. Her positivity and professionalism allows her clients  to show who they really are. And the quality of her work speaks for itself.

We are so excited for our big day, and having Rose there to help celebrate and capture one of the biggest moments of our lives will be the icing on the cake!”

Get ready to fall in love with this insanely cute couple - Enjoy!

IN PHOTOS: Carly & Adam's Intimate Wedding at Three Oaks Farm

Carly and Adam’s wedding day was one for the books!

These two love birds wanted to throw a big party for their friends and family and this blog post is proof that they d-e-l-i-v-e-r-e-d.

And, MAN, did their friends and fam know how to party!

These two met at...

Auburn while studying mechanical engineering and fell in love while traveling the world together.

In the words of Carly, they “make a great team.” Adam builds things, and Carly paints and makes pottery. Helllooo, match made in heaven!

Carly & Adam’s wedding theme...

mirrored their love of traveling and DIY projects perfectly. Throughout the ceremony and reception they incorporated their special wedding theme in details like airplane table numbers, a cute travel inspired seating chart, gorgeous signage designed by Carly and an arbor made by Adam’s dad. It was all super cute and intimate!

My favorite wedding detail?

Carly’s dress! Her sister took on the ultimate DIY project and made her dress from scratch - and it was STUNNING!

Even better...

Surrounded by their friends and family, Carly & Adam tied the knot in their own special way.

Their love was so easy to capture and one of my favorite parts of the day was the speeches of their friends and family members. You could tell how Carly and Adam just fit in with each others families seamlessly. In every direction, there was so much love!

With their non-stop giggling,

These two were so much fun to spend the day with. and their love was so easy to capture!

Congrats again, you two! I am so honored I was able to capture your wedding day, and thank you for the sweetest words that’ll I’ll cherish forever.

“Rose was easygoing, genuine, sweet, responsive, and thorough. We loved that she listened to what we liked/didn’t, translated that into exactly which shots to get, and got them fast so we could get back to partying with our guests! Not that shooting with her wasn’t a party!! Our wedding party even commented on how fun, quick, and painless the photo sessions were.

As for the actual photos- she perfectly captured the love that was just exploding from everyone on our wedding day! Nothing staged or stuffy, just pure laughter and joy (and maybe some happy tears). Her deliciously warm editing style is a perfect mix of bright and subdued, and she really knows how to work a sunset. I love seeing our wedding through Rose-colored lenses!”

Ready to journey with me into Carly & Adam’s wedding day?

Bryce Canyon Couples Session & Kayak Inspired Love Story: Meet Nick & Savannah!

FIRST things first: Nick and Savannah, y’all know how to rock the romance out of Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah!

Secondly, if you’ve read my blog about how I met my husband, you will know I am obsessed with love stories that just “happen.” Nick and Savannah’s meet-cute is something out of a romantic comedy and seriously so freakin’ sweet!

And, it all starts with a kayak adventure.

Here’s how one destined adventure changed Nick and Savannah’s lives forever:

The Meet-Cute

Savannah is from Knoxville and was visiting a friend in Florida. One day during Savannah’s trip, her friend, friend’s family and Savannah decided to go on a guided kayak tour. Her friend’s family adopted a little boy and as he was putting on his life jacket Savannah commented on how cute the little boy was.

At the sound of Savannah’s voice, their tour guide looked up… his eyes met Savannah’s eyes…

And, Savannah immediately turned away... wide-eyed and blushing, she whispered to her friend “Did you see that guy?!”

Enter Nick.

“That guy” was Nick, and Nick wasn’t supposed to work that day.

It just so happened that Nick’s friend got sick and needed Nick to fill his shift. Nick’s friend told him that it was “just a family,” so he rolled up, hair disheveled and completely not put together.

When Nick saw Savannah, he was immediately taken aback by her and was just as nervous as she was during the guided tour.

After their immediate connection, Savannah said she was shaking throughout the entire day while they were flirting.

Although the kayak flirting only lasted for a few hours, destiny was just gettin’ started with these two…

Two months later,

the kayak company, who hosted the tour, posted photos from their excursion on Facebook. Savannah and her friend’s family were tagged in the photos and Nick liked the album.

She casually – okay, intentionally – stalked him on Facebook and eventually friend requested him. Savannah says she was convinced he did it deliberately, since he didn’t like any of the other albums, but Nick said he “just liked it.” RIGHT. We believe you, Nick ;)

Nick messaged Savannah, almost immediately after her request, and the rest was history!

When Nick proposed,

he took Savannah kayaking - specifically back to the place where they first met.

He brought all of his camera gear to document the moment. Savannah questioned it but brushed it off.

Once he got to the floating dock where he wanted to propose, he pulled the ring out of his backpack and all Savannah could say was “Stop it! Stop it!”

BUT, obviously, next came the “yes” - even if his grandma is still convinced otherwise. ;)

Cheers to Nick & Savannah - They got married last May!

There is so much more to this love story, but as they were telling us about their lives you could tell these newlyweds were just absolutely in love and completely down for anything when it came to their photos. We had such a variety of shots and an amazing time!

Enjoy Nick & Savannah’s dreamy, energizing photo adventure below:

I would love to be your professional third wheel on your next love story adventure! Let’s connect here & get to it!

All the best,

Ready, Set, Love: Elise & Ben's Ultimate Grand Canyon Photo Adventure

Okay, these two are freakin’ models and KILLED their sunrise session at the Grand Canyon! I’m actually obsessed with the way Ben looks at Elise. Seriously, the sweetest.

Before we swoon over their love story & chat all about the photo session favorites, let’s meet the Grand Canyon landscape that compliments Elisa & Ben’s love for one another.

After our INSANE session at Horseshoe Bend in Arizona, we drove almost four hours to get to our hotel in Grand Canyon Village.

Now, I need you to picture little ol’ me driving an SUV in the complete darkness of the desert, afraid of heights and not knowing what was behind every curve. Absolutely terrifying.

Then, insert a massive elk and that takes it to a whole new level…

But, I am happy to say we arrived at our hotel by 12AM - just in time for our 5AM wake up call. ROUGH. Even at a 4 hour turn around, we KNEW it was going to be worth it!

For the canyon photo session, we were going to be on the South Rim, so we scouted for a location point that would have good light. There are two times of day that are my absolute favorite to shoot - right at sunrise or two hours before sunset.

We decided the best place to start was at Yavapai Point and head towards Mather Point. And, BOY was it perfect!

The Grand Canyon has been on my bucket list forever and I honestly didn’t know what to expect. After going for one day, I know that I will definitely be back. There are so many other places that I want to explore. It’s so vast and honestly just breathtaking.

Elise and Ben were in Arizona for school (Ben’s originally from Illinois and Elise is from Minnesota) when they both ended up at the same bar one night. Ben noticed Elise from across the room and got her a drink. They started chatting, but other than following each other on social media, that was all the contact they had… for a YEAR.

Ben texted Elise a year later out of the blue. At first Elise was hesitant, but after a couple of dates the rest was history!

Y’all, these two were naturals in front of the camera! It’s all about being comfortable and having fun with your boo.

One thing I loved about this session was the fact that they trusted us to help them with their outfit choices! When it comes to outfit suggestions, my main goals are to ensure:

  1. You’re comfortable

  2. It’s something you would actually wear in your everyday life and

  3. You can MOVE!

Elise and Ben brought a bunch of options, and we chose colors and combos that worked with the environment. The Grand Canyon had a lot of orange and green tones so we played off those!

Enjoy these magical photos!

Photo Reveal: Suzy + Mayra's Breathtaking Arizona Desert Session

Alright, y’all. Anchor yourselves in your chair or grip your phones a little tighter, because one epic photo session is coming your way!

The two cuties in this real life love story are Suzy & Mayra: They are madly in love with one another, boss ass business babes, naturally adventurous & soulmates of Arizona’s beautiful horizon.

Their love story & sunset photo adventure below is anything but ordinary.

Back in March, I spent a little time in Arizona with some amazing photographers, and we met up with Suzy and Mayra at Horseshoe Bend in Page, AZ.

These two babes have been together FOURTEEN YEARS and have never had professional photos done.

Like... never, ever, ever.

EXCUSE me, what?!

Let’s just say their Arizona desert adventure was special in every single way.

We were only a few minutes into their couples photoshoot before I fell in love with them. They were so real and so in love.

But, before I dive into my favorite takeaways from their Horseshoe Bend photoshoot… I’ll introduce you to Suzy & Mayra’s insanely, romantic love story.

Prior to meeting Mayra, Suzy had to quit working at a clothing store to spend some time with family in Mexico.

Suzy’s replacement just so happened to be Mayra! Suzy stayed friends with the owner of the store and would come around every once and awhile. During one of her every-now-and-then visits, the other associates dared Mayra to ask Suzy for her number.

And, the rest is history!!

Suzy said that even though it was a dare, Mayra was “all about it” and they have been together ever since.

These babes have been married for five years but have been together for fourteen total. WOW!

On their third anniversary, they took a trip to Vegas and made a future promise together: If they made it to five years, they were going to stay at the Bellagio.

WELL, five years past, then six…. Seven. On their eighth year they finally headed back to Vegas.

But, Suzy had something else up her sleeve for this “spontaneous” trip.

When they went to Vegas, it just so happened that they had been together for one-hundred months. Crazy, coincidentally, cute... right?

So, Suzy put a hundred Hershey kisses into a box, along with an engagement ring, and booked a room for two at the Bellagio.

Surprise! Their romantic Las Vegas getaway turned into a Las Vegas engagement setting the stage for their forever.

Since they planned for a California destination wedding, they decided to keep their wedding small and intimate. Suzy & Mayra got married on the beach, had dinner at a restaurant and ended the night at their hotel playing beer pong and doing the things they enjoy.

They didn’t have a destination wedding photographer, so they relied on their family members and friends camera phones for wedding photos.

During their couples session, here are two unique characteristics that absolutely stood out to me & hugged my soul:

  1. Intimate Wedding Idea: Suzy & Mayra chose to get married in a way that really worked for them and was 100% their style! They had complete control over what they did and how they did it which made their wedding uniquely and wonderfully theirs.

  2. Embrace Authenticity: They fully embodied authentic and organic photography style. As I was going through the photos, I couldn’t help but notice how absolutely in love they are! The session was all about them and their connection which made the stunning photoshoot location at Horseshoe Bend even more special.

Terrific Tips: How to Meet 5 Best National Parks Hassle-Free & on a Budget

Your travel plans just got way better.

Do you have any of America’s National Parks on your bucket list?

You should, because these legendary parks will truly punch the breath right out of you - in the most magical, dreamiest way.

It’s a personal goal of mine to photograph couples in every National Park in America and to see every state by the time I’m thirty. Only a few more years to go… eeek!

But anyways, US National Park adventures are worth e-v-e-r-y- s-i-n-g-l-e penny and it turns out you don’t need that many pennies to justify this type of trip. All the evidence you need is below in this blog post...

Grand Canyon.jpg

Thanks to my traveling guide style AKA:

  1. Budget-friendly

I visited Zion National Park, Utah State Parks, Horseshoe Bend, Page, AZ Slot Canyons and Grand Canyon National Park successfully and will forever be raving about these ventures because of it.

For me, it’s hard to take in nature or popular landmarks in big crowds & a lighter wallet always makes me the happiest when I travel.

Did I hear a “DITTO” echoing (loudly) from your end?

Well then, keep your eyes parked here because...

I’m living proof that YOU CAN travel to these paradise pieces on a budget while beating the crowds.

This travel guide starts with fabulous behind the scene tips & tricks at each location and then ends with sexy money saving suggestions that will keep all parties involved happy.

National Park Travel Pointers:

1. The Grand Canyon

grand canyon sunrise.JPG
Grand Canyon sunset.JPG
  • Talk about living the dream...The Grand Canyon has been on my bucket list forever! When I found out I was going to be in southern Utah, I knew I needed to seize the canyon opportunity - even if it was a bit of a drive. But I’m SO glad we did, because we got to experience both the sunrise and sunset. I never knew my heart could swoon so much over majestic lighting… jk, I totally did but HOLY WOW - if magic carpet rides were totally a thing, I would do it during a Grand Canyon sunrise & sunset.

  • While among this radiating rocky terrain, I realized that my favorite Disney World Resort, The Wilderness Lodge, is actually designed to look like the Grand Canyon and it made my inner Disney fangirl super excited! I actually wouldn’t stop gushing about it.

  • Don’t AirBnB in this area & here’s why: We stayed at a hotel along the South Rim and walked from Yavapai Point to the east. Our hotel was in Grand Canyon Village, and I found an amazing deal through a third-party that I couldn’t pass up. I highly encourage people to book a hotel and not an AirBnB here because they are much cheaper! I will say though, if you want to splurge and stay in a cool trailer home or camper, AirBnB is the way to go!

  • The earlier you book the better - I’m talking to you my fellow procrastinators. ;) I waited just a hair too long before booking lodging and had to take a risk to find a deal!

  • Pro-Tip: The colors of the actual canyon were a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Photos really don’t do it justice. Really be in the moment and experience the views. As a photographer, I know how hard it is to put the camera down, but it’s truly an unreal view!

2. Utah State Parks

Utah State Park.jpg
state park.JPG
Utah State Park-2.jpg
  • Can you believe this? Utah is home to five national parks and 43 state parks! DAMN that’s one beautiful state.

  • I highly encourage everyone to check out some of the lesser known state parks because each one gives it own character. There are plenty around the more well-known National Parks like Zion and Arches!

  • Some of the non-famous parks I suggest visiting that are close to Zion include Kodachrome, Coral Pink Sand Dunes and the Escalante Petrified Forest - all with completely different terrain and views!

3. Horseshoe Bend

Horseshoe Bend-2.jpg
Horseshoe Bend.jpg
  • This breathtaking landscape used to be a lesser known vantage point of the Colorado River, but because of Instagram Horseshoe Bend absolutely blew up. As wonderful as it is that traffic has increased in such a small town in Arizona and the economy has benefited from it, it is now becoming commercialized and harder to see.

  • I still encourage people to go see it because the views are stunning. However, I do caution people to not geo-tag hidden gems because it can really affect the area. Instead, I choose to geo-tag the small towns or states associated with the hidden gems so if people want to dig and check it out for themselves, they still can!

  • Pro-Tip: Go on the off season! We went in March and it was warm during the day and chilly at night, but the crowds were much more manageable!

4. Slot Canyons in Page, AZ

slot canyon 2.JPG
Slot Canyon.jpg
Page Arizona.jpg
  • Slot canyons are super popular and common around Arizona.

  • We had the privilege to stumble upon one that opened within the last year and wasn’t heavily populated or commercialized, like Antelope Canyon.

  • We got a private tour, and were really able to enjoy the canyon and not be pushed through. I was 100% practicing what I preach everyday to people: “Indulge in experiences that are off the beaten path. You never know what opportunities are awaiting you.”

5. Zion National Park

  • There are many hikes and views throughout the park, but the most well known and easiest hike is Observation Point. It’s friendly for people who are scared of heights, like me. An adventure photographer that’s scared of heights? Oh, the irony!!

  • Heads up: The park requires a pass and lasts a full week!

Budget-Friendly Park Hacks:

1. Flights to National Parks

  • Travel to Vegas and get cheap flights! Southwest is by far my favorite airline, and I actually paid for my flights from Atlanta with points! If I didn’t have points, it would have only costed about $250 roundtrip!

2. Rental Cars for National Park Adventures

  • Ahead of time, research deals on rental cars. Double check your insurance coverage and make sure it covers rental cars so you don’t book their insurance policy - which would up the cost.

  • Don’t buy their gas, find the cheapest option close to the airport to fill up!

3. Seasonal Travel is Best for Budgets

  • Travel on the off season and bundle up, because that temp drops at night. As a ginger, I will always prefer to be more covered than too hot!

Driving over 1,000 miles…

“Rose Bowman Style” gifted my traveling group and I the freedom to see so many amazing new places with such ease & fun.

I felt like I traveled to 5 different countries without the hassle of keeping up with my passport which, personally to me, makes America’s National Park adventures so worth it.

If you have the “Grand Canyon” or “Zion” boldly underlined on your bucket list...I’m giving you FULL permission to go ahead and check them off next month. Everyone should experience the Grand Canyon and Zion at least once in their life!

If you need a friendly, third-wheel photographer to join you to any of these extraordinary US landmarks above, I would do it in a heartbeat (again and again).

Let’s go!

All the best,

In case you skimmed up above, here’s your national park adventure cliff notes:

Visiting US National Parks (like Zion National Park, Utah State Parks, Horseshoe Bend, Page, AZ Slot Canyons and Grand Canyon National Park) with my budget-friendly and location tips is equivalent to finding unicorns in your backyard. Magical.

Go seize those unicorns!
