Emotional Colorado Engagement Photos
For couples who love nature, Colorado engagement photos are a great way to celebrate their love. Paige and Robbie wanted their engagement photos to capture the beauty of their chosen home of Colorado. Breckenridge is a beautiful area with endless places to hike, bike, ski, and boat. The mountain trails and plains at the foot of the Rocky Mountains created an ideal backdrop for these romantic and adventurous images.
Paige and Robbie’s Colorado Engagement Photos
It’s fair to say that Paige and Robbie love Colorado. In 2021, work allowed them to move anywhere. They chose Colorado for the access to nature around the Rocky Mountains. These images celebrate their enthusiasm for the rugged mountain sides and majestic lake views of their chosen home. I felt privileged to document their relationship with this incredible place as well as their love for each other.
When we were getting ready for these Colorado engagement photos, Paige told me that she prefers candid photos. She cares more about the feeling a photo gives her than she does about the photo being perfect. I focused on documenting small, intimate moments between them. The image of Paige’s shoes laying in the field implies a whole story about this adventurous pair.
Paige and Robbie are so natural around each other. You can see how comfortable they are in the photo of Paige laughing on the picnic table. I live for artfully preserving those moments. It feels like the kind of photo Paige and Robbie will look back on to remember this beautiful time in their lives.
Since candid photos were important to Paige, I incorporated a lot of movement into my posing. Paige and Robbie are such adventurers that they made it easy with a hike along the mountain then down into the plains. Paige chose comfortable dresses that were easy to move in. They suited the scenery well.
Breathtaking Nature in Breckenridge
Paige and Robbie decided to do their Colorado engagement photos outside of Breckenridge. Breckenridge is a colorful town with a thriving historic district and ski resort. Located in the foothills of the Tenmile Range of the Rocky Mountains, it’s surrounded by breathtaking nature. The amazing hiking trails make the town popular even when the ski resorts are closed in the warmer months.
Colorado engagement photos are so special because they evoke a sense of adventure. During this session, the sinking sun cast gold halos on the trees and boulders. Tufts of wildflowers grew around Paige’s feet, adding layers of texture and subtle color to the images. All the while, the snow-capped mountains stretch towards the sky like a painting.
For blue hour, we hiked down to the plains. This is one of my favorite times for Colorado engagement photos. The light is soft and even. Paige and Robbie alternated between exploring their surroundings and taking time to be close. Breckenridge was really the ideal setting to photograph their romance.
