Back in early August, I had the privilege of capturing Chelsea and Jordaan’s intimate elopement at Meadowlark 1939. Slated to get married this year in a chic, industrial venue in Atlanta, these two cuties had to put their big wedding on pause until March of 2021. While they await their big day with all of their family and friends, this lovely couple didn’t want to wait to officially tie the knot and decided on a summer elopement.
Going with a different style than their wedding venue, Chelsea and Jordaan wanted all the gardens and all the greenery. Meadowlark 1939 hit all those marks… and then some. Located just south of Atlanta, Meadowlark 1939 is a charming family estate turned event venue that boasts impressive gardens, a pool house, and a greenhouse. As this venue was on my dream list of places to shoot in the surrounding Atlanta area, I was thrilled when Chelsea let me know of the new plans.
As you can imagine, an outdoor wedding in Georgia in August is brutally hot, but we did our best to stay shaded and take advantage of the stunning grounds. One of my absolute favorite images from the day is the wide shot of Jordaan standing with his hands crossed looking straight on and waiting for Chelsea to make her way over to him and begin the ceremony. These two got married under a beautiful, old tree and recited emotional vows that didn’t leave a dry eye in the audience.
Since Chelsea & Jordaan only had close family and friends at the ceremony, they made a little Zoom set-up to digitally greet their loved ones from far away and receive their well wishes. For all the hoops they had to go through, like many Covid couples, it filled me with joy to see them officially tie the knot and have such a beautiful wedding.
After they officially tied the knot, we moved across the estate to get some amazing portraits of the newlyweds. Meadowlark 1939 has a pool as part of its grounds, which provided for some really unique and beautiful shots that are framed by the incredible gardens all around. We even got some power poses, with all the serious vibes — a favorite image of both Chelsea and Jordaan! After our pool moment, we headed into the greenhouse for some more intimate close-ups and then onto the grounds again for more fun portraits!
These two had a small cake for a sweet moment at their elopement. I got some incredible close-ups of their details and loveeee these images of their rings paired against the gold text of Chelsea’s beautiful, hand-written vows. The whole day was truly special from start to finish and these sweet details highlight their unique, deep love for one another. While I can’t wait to get to shoot their large wedding next year with all the folks in attendance, this elopement was one for the books and shows how a Covid couple pivoted and adapted to still celebrate their love how they wanted to!
