The farther I get into my wedding career, the more I love photographing maternity sessions in Atlanta. The full range of emotions that comes with photographing weddings will not be fully matched, but I have found a whole new experience being an Atlanta maternity photographer and working with expecting couples.
Baby announcements and maternity photos are some of the first things you share on that journey and there are a lot of options when it comes to maternity sessions in Atlanta. I want to share you choice of location options, such as in home or in a studio, as well as when is a good time and what to wear. As an Atlanta maternity photographer I want to help you get beautiful and timeless photographs you can look back on and remember this fleeting season of life.
Where to have your Atlanta Maternity Session:
Maternity Session in Atlanta at Parks and Other Outdoor Areas
Did you know that Atlanta has a reputation for having a lot of tree cover? There are moments you’re in the city but feel like you’re in the countryside. We love this since there are a number of great parks to choose from inside and outside of the perimeter. When it comes to maternity sessions in Atlanta, we can pick a park that fits the overall vibe you’re looking to achieve with your photos. Some of my favorites locations are Cator Woolford Gardens inside the city and Garrard Landing Park just outside the perimeter.
Styled or Studio Maternity Session in Atlanta
One of my favorite things to do with clients for sessions is to get creative. Madison reached out to me about both her pregnancies with two completely different visions. The first maternity session in Atlanta we went for a clean and modern look to be cohesive with their wedding photos. The studio we settled on was an open space and with a clean background. There are many studio options in Atlanta at our disposal. Once we nail down a creative vision together, we can find an option that checks all the boxes.
For her second session we wanted something a little more down to earth and natural. We locked in a location, created a backdrop and made magic happen on a summer day in the shade. As an Atlanta maternity photographer I love when clients think outside the box and let me bring some creative ideas to the table.
Atlanta Maternity Sessions at Home
Another option is to do photos at home. I always recommend finding ways to make sessions more comfortable. In home sessions eliminate the unfamiliar location factor, especially during a time when so much change is already happening. During an in home maternity session, we will take photos in the spaces you frequent the most pre-baby, do some detail images in their nursery and include any fur children that came before human ones. Also a great way to remember what life was like at home before kids came along!
When to Take Maternity Photos
Some expecting mother’s start their pregnancy journey with photos for a baby announcement. These photos aren’t necessary but a great way to get images at the beginning of this era and before big life changes start to happen. I have had couples wait until the halfway point of their pregnancy to announce because they either wanted privacy or waited until there was a little bump! Most maternity sessions are happening one to two months out from the due date. Everyone’s pregnancy experience varies so I am flexible and communicative throughout the process.
Making Photos Easy with Baby Bundles
Something I’m passionate about as an Atlanta maternity photographer is photos should be easy and this moment should be remembered. So much comes up during pregnancy. It doesn’t help babies are also the ones that ultimately decide when they arrive. There are so many factors getting in the way of planning during this season, but photos shouldn’t be an afterthought.
When you inquire about your Atlanta maternity session, I will send baby bundle information with all the different types of sessions available so you figure out exactly what you want, lock in your bundle and leave the planning to me. Other offerings include family mini sessions and what I like to call “New Baby Sessions”. Get the process started and connect here!
