I didn’t always want to be an Atlanta Newborn Photographer. I never had the urge to learn how to do baby origami or how to perfectly place newborns in a basket. When I realized that wasn’t the only type of newborn photography and I could incorporate my own documentary approach to family and newborn sessions, it was a huge game changer for me. I realized there are expecting couples who probably feel the same way about tacky newborn photos and want something beautiful, but real – not curated.
Atlanta Newborn Photography Showing “A Day in the Life”
My goal as an Atlanta newborn photographer is to show what “a day in the life” looks like in those first few weeks. Your lives completely change over night. Your home already looks different and babies change so quickly that every moment is fleeting. Slowing down and taking a moment together as a family is the perfect way to look back and remember what this time was like for you all as a new family.
When To Take New Baby Photos
Babies do this fun thing where they decided when and how they will make their arrival into the world. Because there are so many factors in the air, I recommend waiting about 2-4 weeks from your baby’s birth to heal, settle in and find your new normal. I like to call these “New Baby” sessions instead of “Newborn” since we aren’t meeting until the dust settles a bit.
What to Wear During Your Session
I have found as an Atlanta newborn photographer that couples who are as physically comfortable as possible are relaxed and at ease during their session. Keyword = Comfort. Since we will be in your home, I recommend wearing complimentary colors to the space, but also stick to soft textures for that at nesting, new baby feel. We can play with onesies, swaddles and accessories, but parents usually wear one or two outfits for variety.

We have already determined babies are unpredictable, which is why I don’t want your photography to be. New baby sessions are booked before your due date with the final payment done well before so there are no loose ends or invoices to worry about before birth. I provide my cell phone number to newborn parents so they connect with me on their own terms during this huge transition.
